2017 Gallery.

D428-030
17-02-14 - Valentimes day.
Oh-oh. A fishy-looking mark on the ceiling over your head, DR. Better get out your paintbrush.

D428-038
17-02-17 - Fort George pre-season.
"where" xref sent to where.ptf

D428-060
17-02-18 - Meanwhile down at Port Colborne hbr.
Cracks are developing in the infirmament.

D428-066
17-02-18 - A tad early for patio sitting.

D428-070
17-02-18 - But four-eyes sticks it out.

D428-093
17-02-27 - Ready for take-off.

D428-097
17-02-27 - Mission-controller.

D428-104
17-03-01 - Rude food (and Poirot on the case.)

D428-109
17-03-03 - Brock Gym art.

D428-114
17-03-03 - Guardian cats and lisianthus.

D428-117
17-03-03 - Holter halter.
Was just getting checked out re blood thinner issues. Worried about becoming a haemophiliac while on some overseas hiking trip where OHIP doesn't reach.

D225-356
09-06-12 - 2009: Like Pappallacta hot springs, Peru.
Check out the rigours of camping in far-away places,

D429-001
17-03-20 - We gotta look into this.
March, or April? Which is really the cruelest month?

D429-005
17-03-08 - For either month ... parental discretion is advised.

D429-008
17-03-12 - But don't mess with April, especially.

D429-016
17-03-14 - Could be a big snow.

D429-021
17-03-14 - Oh,oh! better check the telemetry ...
What? The space-shuttle is still giving us a busy signal.

D429-028
17-03-15 - Or consult next summer's garden reading?

D429-046
17-03-16 - Rescue by snow angels, or fallen angels?

D429-062
17-03-20 - Andrea bowl. Love those cute ... Ouch!
A discreet nudge would do, Merle. I was merely distracted for a moment.

D429-066
17-03-24 - To Arts Place: Macsai show.

D429-072
17-03-24 - Brisk weather on King St. Port Colborne.

D429-073
17-03-24 - Details, sometimes almost as interesting ... as the complete painting.

D429-091
17-03-24 - Harbinger.
As in, "How much is that harbinger in the window?. The one with the waggly tail." Who sang that song, Rosemary Mulroney? (Clooney?)
D429 17-03-05 Lo-cal, snow

D430-009
17-04-04 - Yitzak Borkh, and his memorial pinecone.
Little did they know the tale of Borkh's Last Stand. (A Niagara Jewish Heritage Month factoid.)

D430-013
17-04-16 - Bloodroot.

D430-015
17-04-16 - Grimsby Mtn: Andrea contemplates.

D430-027
17-04-16 - Old Cedars. Far from Lebanon.

D430-035
17-04-16 - New newt. Closer to home.

D430-044
17-04-30 - Storage boxes in the hallway. Why?
Let's just confine ouselves to a few brief ...

D430-045
17-04-30 - Flood reminiscences.

D430-055
17-05-13 - Derek, worried someone will call police.
It's not everyday he gets to stash a body in the backseat of a minivan. Could we create a version of "Midsommer Murders", set in Port Colborne? Part of the "cosy" crime genre the British do so well. Eg. "Miss Marple", etc.

D430-056
17-05-13 - She's on the way to another gallery.

D430-061
17-05-17 - 1967: My over-the-hill birthday, 30.
We had a big party at our Markham St. house in Toronto. Found this homemade paper hat, sorting stuff after the flood in St Catharines. A tribute to The Old Gods of Egypt. We were celebrating what we thought was a quote from Abbie Hoffman: "Don't trust anyone over 30." I recently found out that Jack Weinberg actually coined the saying. We now have to find out who Jack Weinberg is (was?).
After a few drinks we phoned Bill Brooks in Winnipeg, collect. The Tompkinses and the Sungod (Ken Tolmie) were present. Responsibility shared is guilt divided (read: diminished - DR management principle.)

D430-065
17-05-17 - In case of skylight leaks. During our Haida Gwaii trip.

D430-071
17-05-17 - DR's corner, behind the sewing machine.
Sharing Merle's office. Maybe permanently, we thought. I'd planned to move AnA into my downstairs office away from the leaks, and vacate the basement entirely. But the persistent inflow dictated that they move out also.

D430-073
17-05-17 - Everything downstairs came upstairs.

D430-075
17-05-17 - Hallways full of book boxes.

D438-001
17-06-03 - Mr. Happy Face. Why?
An outward sign of his "happy to be prepared for yet another disaster" philosophy?
"derek" xref in notes

D438-020
17-06-09 - David Maracle gets Hon. LLB, Brock U.
He made the hat himself, but confided he was worried it made him look like a turkey.

D438-033
17-06-10 - Same heron from Wreck Beach?
Still following me all the way from Vancouver.
D438 17-06-03 Lo-cal

D439-035
17-06-11 - Making progress. Woodside monster-home.

D439-042
17-06-13 - Cutting old rails with oxygen lance.
St. Paul St improvements. There goes the last of St. Catharines' streetcar heritage.
"where" xref sent to where.ptf

D439-051
17-06-14 - Das Knarrenschif, symbol for our time.

D439-056
17-06-15 - Visit to Trevor in the Shaver.
Gawd in gawd-awful mood. This convalescent hospital now has sectarian links from the demolished Hotal Dieu. They must have been the ones to install this severe relief sculpture of le bon Dieu(?). The building was originally the Shaver TB Sanitorium.

D439-067
17-06-16 - De la Terre cafe bakery. With Freda Pomerantz. Jordan.

D439-066
17-06-15 - Experimental food, but ambiance good.

D439-083
17-06-21 - Gazebo patio. New laid today.

D439-092
17-06-21 - Solar thingy still works.

D439-100
17-06-21 - DR bunker. Recall Wordsworth's backyard gazebo at Dove Cottage, Grasmere.

t89c-010
89 - 1989: Dove Cottage, Merle at the gate.

0335-26
89 - Hiking above Grasmere.
On an escarpment of a Lake District sort. That may be Helm Crag on the centre horizon. The smog is probably from coal-burning power plants on the west coast. This rivalled anything we saw much later in Beijing.

D439-114
17-06-21 - We interrupt this program ...
to bring you rainy season reminiscences from 176 Woodside. Then we return to our usual programming.

D439-115
17-06-21 - Compare and contrast. 10 marks.
Well, praise the Lord, and dent my chest with your body armour. I'm surrounded by superheroines.

D468-127
17 - By Miriam's art teacher, Chris Delara.

D107-068
05-01-01 - Lest we forget our own heroines. New Year's party, 2005.
D439 17-06-03 Lo-cal

D440-001
17-07-03 - This IS a place where ...
water HAS been an issue. At times, even "Paddle-to-the-sea" seemed a less adventurous tale than "Pump-out-the-recroom".

D440-008
17-03-08 - Size is uniform. Stackable. Zehrs. Think Leamington. Ketchup.

D440-011
17-06-22 - My contrib, Arts Place. group exhib.
The nucleus of a possible show, titled "Where in Niagara?"

D440-026
17-06-24 - BTC booth, Keg resto parking lot.
We also led some hikes up the route of the old canal. Which is located in the bushes behind Merle.

D440-035
17-06-24 - Compare today, above, to yrs ago.
Then, tawny-coloured, pulp mill effluent, stinking of sulphur.

D440-051
17-06-26 - Hail. Is it the wrath of Trump?

D440-059
17-06-27 - Wish we'd put it there long ago.
The couch, that is.

D069-11
03-08-25 - 2003: Me solo kayaking, Welland R.

D440-072
17-06-27 - Tacky but nice. Boat House resto.

D440-074
17-06-27 - The BV gang.

D442-007
17-07-01 - Aaaaaawwwwww.
Seen at neighbour Caroline's backyard block party. Canada Day.

D440-095
17-07-01 - Clean up the woodpile, saith Miriam.

D440-121
17-07-01 - Ah, the magic fountain. Close in popularity to "the burning schoolhouse".

D441-029
17-07-02 - Burlington bowling trophy.
Outing with Ruth and Maureen.

D441-056
17-07-02 - In Burlington Art Gallery.
What is that on his/her head? Medusa snakes?
D441 17-07-02 Lo-cal

D442-016
17-07-04 - A mighty walnut.
"Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott/ Ein gute Wehr und Waffen..." Could be the model for a tree-huggers' anthem. This is on our private switchback path up the Escarpment to the Bruce Trail behind our house.

D442-026
17-07-04 - Dining room interior beckons.
Cosy. Time to come in out of the skeeters.

D442-095
17-07-09 - Almost crimson.

D442-109
17-07-09 - Down Karma, down boy.
Good Karma today. My luck seems to be holding. I didn't have to cuddle a forty-pound doggie in my lap.
D442 17-07-04 Lo-cal

D443-010
17-07-16 - Getting fit for our Malta jaunt.
The agonized look is due to my squint to see the dim camera screen, not from hydrogen-sulphide fumes emanating from the landfill site.

D443-028
17-07-12 - Exercise walk with M. Hydro Hill.
The work of some craft show freedom-fighter. The burl is probably valuable for making things like salad bowls. Another huge one is located in Port Dalhousie, east side of the harbour.

Adam briefly lived here in the days when Brock Radio, CFBU, used the building.

Everything seems to be deteriorating generally.
